Description
Based on his experiences reporting in Afghanistan and Pakistan since 1983, CNN National Security Analyst and best-selling author, Peter Bergen, will discuss the issues raised in Khaled Hosseini’s popular book, A Thousand Splendid Suns. From the Soviet occupation, the civil war in the 1980’s, the rise and fall of the Taliban, and where the country is headed today and in the future, Bergen draws on his work to bring alive a country that is one of the most beautiful and fascinating places on the planet. Sponsored by New Student Programs, the Department of Student Life and the MSA/GPC Speakers Committee.
Bergen has written two books, “Holy War Inc.” and “The Osama Bin Laden I Know”, and will be having a book signing after the show.
Doors open at 7:00 pm.
